MoneyGram investigating network outage
MoneyGram International has advised that it is working to bring its systems back online after it found a cybersecurity issue. The international money transfer provider has been experiencing a network outage over the past couple days which has impacted connectivity to a number of its systems.
On September 21, MoneyGram confirmed via X in a statement that it was working to better understand the nature and scope of the issue.
In a further update on Monday, September 23, MoneyGram through its social media platforms on Facebook and X said:
MoneyGram recently identified a cybersecurity issue affecting certain of our systems. Upon detection, we immediately launched an investigation and took protective steps to address it, including proactively taking systems offline which impacted network connectivity. We are working with leading external cybersecurity experts and coordinating with law enforcement. We recognise the importance and urgency of this matter to our customers and partners. We are working diligently to bring our systems back online and resume normal business operations.

In the Caribbean, Massy Remittance Services via its Facebook page on September 20 posted the following service alert:
“Due to a global outage, MoneyGram services are currently down. MoneyGram International Team is working to restore access. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Stay tuned for updates.”
Social media users have been venting their frustration about being unable to send or receive money over the past four days.
