Antigua Barbuda Global Music & Media Awards reveals Class of 2024
The Antigua and Barbuda Global Music and Media Awards (ABGMA) has announced the 12 recipients of honours at this year’s event.
ABGMA said the Class of 2024 is a diverse group of individuals from the fields of radio, television, music, fashion, and humanitarian advocacy.
Dave Lester Payne will be honoured with the Legacy Award for his enduring contributions to the media industry in Antigua, while Arthur Roland, a renowned Southern Gospel artist and humanitarian, will be recognised for his advocacy and philanthropy in the US.
The Global Humanitarian Award is being bestowed onto Dominican-American Arthlene Legair Lawrence for her contributions to women’s empowerment and global humanitarian efforts and Jorad L Holmes, a multi-award-winning Gospel Recording Artist for his work in spreading the gospel and serving communities in need.
The National Humanitarian Award is being given to Dr Onika Campbell Rowe for her local and international advocacy efforts, while Prophetess Melissa Simon, is honoured for her dedication to community service and spiritual leadership.
The Impact Award recipients include Antiguan Claudette “CP” Peters, an internationally acclaimed Soca/Soul singer and cultural ambassador known for her powerful voice; Ghanian Daniel “Goldmann” Agyin, a multi-award-winning gospel recording artist celebrated for his musical influence and humanitarian efforts across Africa; Trinidadian Alyssa Joseph, an award-winning gospel recording artist and dynamic performer; Jamaican-American Dr Douglas Bramwell, a prominent media personality recognised for his contributions to Caribbean media; Jamaican Kevin Heath, an award-nominated gospel artist and motivational speaker; and Antiguan Khan Cordice, a talented steelpan musician and educator acknowledged for his contributions to music education.
The 10th ABGMA is set to take place from November 28 to December 1, 2024. The honours will be handed out at the Legacy Ball & Media Awards on Saturday, November 30.
