Spicemas 2024: Grenada crowns new Calypso Monarch

Gordon Joseph, known by his stage name ‘Innocent,’has been crowned the new Calypso Monarch following a spectacular performance on Sunday night.

The competition, a highlight of Grenada’s cultural calendar, saw Innocent deliver a performance that captivated both the audience and the judges.

His masterful delivery and lyrical prowess secured him the top spot in this prestigious contest.

In a closely contested battle, Innocent dethroned Kelly Clyne, who performs under the sobriquet ‘Rootsman Kelly.’

The competition was fierce, with talented performers showcasing their skills in the art of calypso. The judges also recognized other outstanding performers.

Findley Jeffery, known as ‘Scholar,’ secured the position of first runner-up, demonstrating the depth of talent in the competition.

Nashonda Charles, performing as ‘Shonda,’ claimed the second runner-up spot, rounding out the top three.
