Paris 2024: Cayman Islands advances to Men’s 100m Freestyle semifinal
Jordan Crooks of the Cayman Islands has qualified for the semifinals of the Men’s 100m Freestyle at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. He finished third in Heat 8 with a time of 48.01s and is the fifth fastest qualifier heading into the semifinals.
Crooks will swim later today in Semifinal 2 at 2:30 pm Atlantic Standard Time. The eight fastest from the semifinals will qualify for the final. He is the only Caribbean swimmer to advance to the semifinal round.
Irvin Hoost of Suriname finished fourth in Heat 2 with a time of 52.99s.
St Lucia’s Jayhan Odlum-Smith swam to an impressive second place in Heat 4 clocking 50.39s.
Lamar Taylor of The Bahamas won Heat 5 in 48.84s and set a new national record. Heat 5 included Jack Kirby of Barbados who finished third in 50.42s and Javier Nunez of the Dominican Republic who finished eighth in 51.55s.
Aruba’s Mikel Schreuders won Heat 6, clocking 48.84s while Trinidad and Tobago’s Dylan Carter finished in eighth place in Heat 7 with a time of 49.35s.
