Paris 2024: Caribbean swimmers compete in Women’s 100m Freestyle heats

Swimmers representing Grenada, Guyana and the Cayman Islands competed in the Heats of the Women’s 100 metres Freestyle at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games but did not qualify for the semifinal on Tuesday, July 30. 

Grenada’s 16 year-old swimmer Tilly Collymore copped an impressive second place finish in Heat 1 in a time of 58.84s. The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Grenada immediately issued congratulated Collymore on her performance and said it is proud of her representation. The ministry described Collymore’s effort, competitive spirit and determination on the international stage as commendable. 

Meanwhile, Guyana’s Aleka Persaud, 18, who also competed in Heat 1 finished in fourth position with a time of 1:01:29.  

Jillian Crooks, 18, of the Cayman Islands competed in Heat 2 where she finished in seventh place with a time of 56.15s.  

Only the 16 fastest from the Heats qualified to the semifinals. There were four Heats.
