NHC anticipates tropical depression to form east of Windward Islands

The US National Hurricane Centre said a tropical wave, which is located several hundred miles away from the Windward Islands, is becoming better organised and should become a tropical depression later today.

The system, which goes by the name Invest 95L, is located 1,400 miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands and it is expected to move westward at 15 to 20 mph and approach the Windward Islands by the end of the weekend.

If the system becomes a tropical storm, it will be called Beryl, marking the second named storm of this year’s hurricane season.

Tropical cyclone advisories are expected to be issued for portions of the Windward Island from tonight.
