Kirani James starts his 2024 season at USATF Bermuda Grand Prix
Grenada’s most decorated track and field athlete Kirani James will make his 2024 debut on Sunday, April 28 at the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix, at the Flora Duffy Stadium in Devonshire, Bermuda.
The Bermuda meet will be Kirani’s first competitive outing since closing the 2023 season with a resounding win at the Diamond League finals in Eugene, Oregon.
Grenada Invitational in an update said 2024 is a very special year for Kirani as he prepares for his 4th Olympics, a first for a male 400 metres athlete.
Track and field fans the world over will be watching as Kirani, the epitome of consistency, looks to set the tone for what should be an intriguing build up to Paris 2024.
“It’s a new season, the first race is always interesting, but I look forward to it, and hopefully I can have a good start to the season,” said Kirani, before leaving his US training base for Bermuda.
Kirani makes his highly anticipated return to the Stadium named after him when he competes at home in Grenada for the first time since 2017, when the official renaming took place.
Currently ranked number 5 in the world among 400m runners, James will compete at the 4th edition of the Grenada Invitational on June 6 at his name-sake Stadium in St George’s.
The Bermuda Grand Prix will air this Sunday, April 28 on NBC starting at 4 pm EST. The 400m race is scheduled for 5:27 pm EST.
