Grenada names team for Paris Olympic Games
A six-member team will represent Grenada at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The track and field athletes are Kirani James, Lindon Victor, Anderson Peters and Halle Hazzard while the swimmers are Tilly Collymore and Zackary Gresham.
The announcement was made today by the Grenada Olympic Committee.
Kirani James is a beloved figure in Grenada and a formidable force in track and field. He’s making his fourth Olympic appearance, having won gold in the 400m in 2012; silver in 2016 and bronze at the Games held in 2022. James’ achievements at the Olympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games, have made him a national hero and an inspiration to aspiring athletes worldwide.
Lindon Victor, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist, has demonstrated extraordinary prowess in the decathlon, embodying resilience throughout his career. His participation in the Paris Olympics marks another milestone in his pursuit of excellence.
Anderson Peters, a javelin prodigy, enters the Olympic arena with a record-breaking career and a determination to add to Grenada’s sporting legacy with his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment. He is a World Championship gold medallist.
Halle Hazzard brings her speed and agility to the Olympic track where she will compere in sprint events.
Meanwhile, Tilly Collymore exemplifies Grenada’s rising talent in swimming, poised to make her mark in the Olympic arena. Zackary Gresham, an emerging star in swimming, represents Grenada’s prowess in aquatic sports.
Leading the delegation as Chef de Mission is Dr Jane Noel and manager Conrad Francis, whose guidance and leadership will ensure the athletes are supported and prepared to perform at their best during the Games.
Paris 2024 takes place from July 26 to August 11, 2024 in France.
