Donald Thomas’s hamstring issue prevents Olympic high jump success
Injuries continue to plague Caribbean athletes competing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France with Bahamian high jumper Donald Thomas being one of the latest casualties.
Thomas, 40, competed in the high jump preliminary round on August 7 where he failed to qualify after missing his three attempts at the opening height of 2.15 metres.
The former World and Commonwealth Champion revealed he had a hamstring injury following the competition.
“Currently recovering from a lesion on my left hamstring. I Felt better every day but one bad step during warmups aggravated it to where I couldn’t run at the speed I needed to. I am crushed because I was more prepared than ever prior to all this. I appreciate all the love and support from everyone. In all things give thanks to the Almighty,” Thomas wrote on Instagram.
He hopes to be back on the field competing once his injury heals.
