Dominica: Boiling Lake stabilizes after recent instability

The UWI Seismic Research Center (UWI SRC) reports that recent observations from on-site cameras and Forestry officials’ visits to the Boiling Lake in Dominica indicate that the lake has now stabilized.

However, they warned that, “periods of instability can occur without warning and persons visiting should still proceed with caution.”

In July, the lake experienced instability with fluctuating water levels, including brief episodes of partial refilling and emptying.

During the period from July 15 to 26, lake temperatures varied between 22°C and 77°C.
