Deon Moore stars as Guyana revives 2026 World Cup campaign
Guyana picked up its first victory in the 2026 Concacaf World Cup qualifiers after defeating Belize last evening.
Both teams were seeking their first victory and points in their Group D match at Wildey Turf in Bridgetown, Barbados on Tuesday.
Both teams were level for more than an hour until Deon Moore connected with a pass from Omari Glasgow to break the deadlock in the 66th minute.
One minute later, Liam Gordon extended Guyana’s advantage after dribbling past defenders to take a left-footed shot in the box.
Moore continued the goal frenzy in the 71st minute after he converted a pass from Nathan Moriah-Welsh.
Belize got some consolation in the 88th minute when Carlos Bernardez headed in a cross from Jahryl Smith.
The victory put Guyana in third position in the Group.
Nicaragua and Panama lead the group with six points each.
