Cricket icons celebrate 50 years since their Test cricket debuts

The Caribbean cricket community is celebrating a momentous milestone today-the golden anniversary of two legendary West Indies cricketers: Sir Vivian Richards and Sir Gordon Greenidge, who both made their Test debuts 50 years ago.

On November 22,1974 they both played against India in Bangalore.

Windies Cricket saluted Sir Gordon in Facebook post which said,” Known for his elegant strokes and unwavering determination, Sir Gordon Greenidge brought pride and glory to the West Indies and cricket fans around the world! WI Salute You, Sir Gordon!”

They also acknowledged Sir Vivian for his “fearless batting” and “unmatched charisma.”

“Sir Viv redefined cricket and inspired generations of cricketers and fans around the world! Here’s to a West Indies legend!” the post added.

Both players became iconic figures who brought pride and international recognition to West Indies cricket during its most dominant period.

Their contributions extended far beyond individual performances, symbolizing a golden age of Caribbean cricket that captured the imagination of sports enthusiasts globally.
