Carifta 2024: Maliek Francis sets new U-17 javelin record to win gold
Antigua and Barbuda’s Maliek Francis captured gold in the Under-17 Boys’ Javelin Division at the 2024 Carifta Games in Grenada on Saturday.
Francis threw a record-breaking distance of 68.84 metres at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium, surpassing the previous record of 64.31m held by Keyshawn Strachan of The Bahamas for the past five years.
Continuing with the results of the U-17 Boys’ Javelin Throw, congratulations are pouring in for Jaheem Clarke of St Kitts and Nevis who won the silver medal and posted a new personal best of 56.09 metres.
Grenadians are also celebrating their very own Delron John who threw a distance of 54.70 metres to capture the bronze medal, making this Grenada’s first medal of the day.
