BVI Sports Minister praises Adaejah Hodge’s historic performance
British Virgin Islands Sports Minister Sharie de Castro says Adaejah Hodge’s historic performances at the just concluded World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Lima, Peru has shown the world that the territory is a force to be reckoned with.
In a statement, de Castro congratulated the 18-year-old on winning gold in the 200 metre and silver in the 100m.
“Adaejah has made history. These achievements solidify her status as a teenage sprinting phenomenon and have placed the British Virgin Islands firmly on the global athletics map,” de Castro said.
“Medalling in both the 100m and 200m events is a phenomenal accomplishment that underscores Adaejah’s extra ordinary talent and versatility as a sprinter.”
De Castro said Hodge’s victory is just the beginning of her remarkable journey to become one of the greatest athletes in history.
The minister added Hodge’s exploits will inspire athletes on the BVI and further a field to work hard and follow their dreams.
