Antigua: Defending champ triumphs in Calypso competition

The 2024 Calypso Monarch competition in Antigua and Barbuda proved to be a spectacle of talent featuring a mix of seasoned performers and promising up and coming artists.

Defending champion King Young Destroyer successfully retained his title, securing the crown with his performance of “De Convention”.

His victory demonstrated the artist’s continued dominance in the calypso arena.

The competition saw a comeback from Queen Singing Althea, who claimed the first runner-up position with her powerful rendition of “Won’t Bow Down”.

Althea, a six-time calypso monarch, was the fan favorite, making a triumphant return after a six-year absence from the competition.

One of the youngest contestants, Ge’ Eve, secured the second runner-up spot with the compelling “One Man”.
