Anderson Peters to begin his 2024 season at Doha Diamond League
Grenada will be looking on as 2019 and 2022 javelin throw World Champion Anderson Peters, will begin his 2024 season on Friday, May 10 at the Doha Diamond League meet in Qatar.
Grenada Invitational in an update reminded that it was at the Doha Diamond League meet in 2022 that Peters threw his personal best of 93.07 metres.
The 2024 meet features 8 out of the top 10 javelin throwers in the world, including Peters, who is presently ranked number 5.
2024 is an Olympic year and Peters, like all athletes the world over, is ensuring his momentum during the season allows him to peak in Paris in late July to early August.
The next meet after Doha for the two-time World Champion will be on May 28 in the Czech Republic at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet.
Peters then returns to Grenada to compete at the Grenada Invitational on June 6 at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium, before heading out again to compete and camp in preparation for Paris 2024.
Apart from his world titles, Peters is also a five-time Carifta gold medallist and a gold medallist at the OECS Track and Field Championships, the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships and the Pan American Games.
Following an off season of rigorous training under world-renowned coach Paul Phillips, the expectation is that Peters will add to his already impressive collection of medals and awards.
