Air arrivals reach new record in Antigua and Barbuda
Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector has achieved a new milestone with a record number of air arrivals in April 2024.
The Minister of Tourism reported the rest of Cabinet that, 126,000 air arrivals were recorded from January to April 2024, surpassing the previous record of 118,000 arrivals during the same period in 2019.
These impressive figures exclude arrivals from the 4th International Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Conference and the ICC T20 World Cup.
The United States remains the primary source market for visitors, followed by the UK, Canada, and the Caribbean.
Last month, it was reported that occupancy levels in March 2024 were consistent with the previous year, standing at 82.00 percent compared to 82.04 percent. This however, marks an eight percent increase compared to 2019.
The majority of visitors, 84 percent, chose to stay in hotels (46%), guest houses (25%), and villas (13%), while the remainder opted for private homes.
